Playa del Carmen is a popular travel destination located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. It offers beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and a laid-back vibe that attracts travelers seeking relaxation and adventure. Compared to Cancun, which is known for its crowded beaches and nightlife, Playa del Carmen is considered to be less touristy, with a more authentic feel. It has a variety of local shops, restaurants, and bars that offer a taste of Mexican culture. Additionally, Playa del Carmen is just a short ferry ride away from Cozumel, an island known for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and world-class scuba diving opportunities, making it a perfect day trip destination for visitors to Playa del Carmen. It's one of our favorite places in Mexico we have visited thus far.
